This paper presents a modified Biot’s model for describing the hydromechanical behaviour of Callovo-Oxfordian Argillite (COx) Claystone. The COx Claystone exhibits significant deformation during water desaturation/resaturation, and standard is unable to predict large shrinkage/swelling material. authors then introduced an additional swelling/shrinkage law simulate deformations upon changes in content. added calibrated against difference between measurements from laboratory tests predictions model. plastic-damage model, developed by Fichant et al. concrete, used describe mechanical solid skeleton In particular, stress–strain relation described damage-based while plastic relies on Nadai criterion. validation proposed performed numerical simulation (a) uniaxial compression under different relative humidities 32, 44 76%; (b) triaxial at confining stresses 0, 2, 6 12 MPa humidity 90%; (c) free desaturation–resaturation paths; (d) resaturation swelling constant axial load; (e) pressure tests.
